PADI divemasters are eligible to take the next step to becoming a PADI dive professional. The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the training that will enable you to be one of the most sought after dive professionals in the world. PADI Instructors are among the most highly trained dive professionals. Earning your PADI Instructor rating shows you've completed the gold standard in training for dive professionals.
The IDC has two components Assistant Instructor and Open Water Instructor Program, given in-person over the course of 8 days. There are also several pre-requisites and additional requirements.

This is a required course prior to teaching for all PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors and open to all PADI Dive Masters.
If you are already an EFR Instructor, this course need not be repeated. This course is priced separately from the IDC. The course fee is $350. Each student will be required to have the EFR Instructor Start-Up Pack (60215).

Each of the above additional requirements is available as noted and fees are payable in addition to the above noted IDC course investment.
The final component to your Instructor level training is the PADI Instructor Exam. This is a 2-day exam held in a variety of locations each year. The PADI IE is scheduled for Dutch Springs in Allentown, Pa on August 24 and 25. Candidates are free to register for an IE in any location to which they wish to travel. Fees for the IE are payable directly to PADI. Approximate cost for the IE is $700. The IDC application to PADI is $190 and the yearly Instructor renewal is $300.

This course will allow the Open Water Sacuba Instructor to be able to teach five PADI specialties. Specialty selection will be based upon local availability and the Course Directors, current offerings.
All classwork will done at Columbia Scuba. Quarry will either be Juturna Springs or Dutch Springs depending upon availabilty. The course fee is $500 or $100/specialty. Each student will be required to have the PADI Specialty Course Instrutor maManual (70250) and access to their own gear. Quarry entrance feel will be extra and vary by facilty.
